ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
This year's AGM will be held on Sunday, 15th of February at 3pm at the club. The meeting is open to all members and you can listen to committee reports, (including the end of year financial statements), and the hopes and plans for 2026. Please come along to have your say, good or bad.
If you would like to stand for any of the offices or as a committee member, please volunteer at the meeting or email lesley.osbc@btinternet.com in advance.
A Captain's meeting will immediately follow the AGM, at around 5.30pm. Players who are BCGBA registered can register their interest in playing for the OSBC league teams. However, if you can't make the meeting, you can let your Team Captain or Trish Jones know.

CHRISTMAS QUIZ
The Christmas Quiz, which was held on the 13th of December, was a great success.
Standing in for Steve Foskett, Helen and Pete Owens were quiz masters, with Helen even singing one of the answers! Many thanks to both of them.
Terry Evans donated a superb food hamper as a Christmas prize and the money raised by this, together with a festive raffle, boosted the amount taken on the door and over the bar - well over £700 in all.
Thanks, as ever, go to the members who volunteered to help on the night - without them it would be difficult to run these fun events for everyone.

SUNDAY DOUBLES FINAL
The Sunday Doubles held their competition on Sunday 7th September and couples representing Greenfields, Bayston Hill and OSBC played. Despite the heavy rain in the morning, the competition went ahead, and the semi-finals and finals were played in the sunshine during the afternoon.
Tony Williams (Greenfields) presented the trophy to the winners,John Ramsey and Tim Robbins, who play for the OSBC 'A' team. The runners up were Alison Lewis and Sue Richardson from Bayston Hill. Congratulations to them!
A consolation competition was also held, and the winning couple were Paul and Alison Maiden from Greenfields, and the runners up were Ian Blower and Jean Jones, also from Greenfields. Congratulations to them also.

BILL FRANCIS MEMORIAL BOWLS COMPETITION
The sun shone all day on the 32 bowlers competing in the inaugural Bill Francis Memorial Competition, held on the 10th of August.
The competition was originally planned for 2024, but the weather was so awful on the day of the event, it had to be cancelled. 2025 was the first opportunity OSBC, and Bill's family and friends, had to celebrate his life. He was a long standing member of OSBC and known to many throughout the bowling community in Shropshire.
The competition was organised by Martin Francis (Castlefields) and Tim Robbins (OSBC), and was over subscribed by people wishing to compete. It seemed fitting that the superb trophy was won by Bill's son, Martin Francis (Castlefields), with Shaun (Castlefields) coming second. £459 was raised for the Hospice charity, and both Martin and Shaun donated their prize money.
It's hoped this will be an annual event and a fitting tribute to Bill, who was, as etched on the trophy, "a loyal member and true gentleman".
