SUMMER BBQ - 28TH JUNE

The club's next social event will be a BBQ during the afternoon of Saturday, 28th of June. The club will be open at 12 noon and the event will finish around 4pm.

There will be the normal BBQ fare - sausages, steak, chops, and burgers, together with salads etc. The bar will be open (naturally) and the ticket price is £10 per head.

Please email Lesley.osbc@btinternet.com so that rough numbers for catering can be worked out. Until the 28th, we will keep our fingers crossed that the weather will be kind to us, but, whether it is or not, the event will still go ahead - we'll just eat indoors!

Please support the club if you can, by joining us for this fun afternoon.

CLEAN SWEEP

At the last committee meeting, it was decided to ask all members if there is anyone who would be prepared to be a cleaner for the club.

It was thought that a couple of hours once a week should suffice, to involve hoovering, sweeping and cleaning the kitchen and loos. There may be extra occasions added whenever there is a special event coming up (such as outside hire), both before and after the event. There will, of course, be payment for the service.

Please email lesley.osbc@btinternet.com for further details, if you are interested.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The number of volunteers who work tirelessly to keep the club going, is very, very small, with only a handful of members helping to make the club the thriving place it is today. On Monday, 17th March, there will be another cleaning session at the club.  This time wellies and anyone with a power hose will be welcome as the plan is to clean the ground floor.  Please bring a facial mask if you want as you know that the filth on the floor is not just silt from the river!! If the weather permits there will be work around the grounds to be done as well. Start time is 10am.

There's always so much to do to keep the place looking as good as it does, and to keep funds coming in - from maintenance of the building and grounds, gardening, organising events, helping on the bar - the list is endless. If you have any spare time that you can offer to your club, please email lesley.osbc@btinternet. It doesn't have to be a regular arrangement - just now and then will help enormously.

COUNTY HANDICAP

Despite the forecast, we were lucky with the weather and the rain only set in towards the end of a very long day. With 92 competitors taking part, the final eventually started just after 8pm! However, it was worth it as the takings on the day boosted the club's bank account - something needed after the heavy expense of the new staircase.

There was superb help from a small number of volunteers. They turned up to cook and serve food, run the bar, collect glasses and rubbish, wash/clear up, and help with the competition administration. Rich Jones and John Griffiths were at the club at 7am, mowing and preparing the greens for the competition. Hugh Ashworth also cleared an area at the far end of green one, where the public could stand and watch the games from the Quarry path. Another good advert for the club!
